65 Facebook and 35 Instagram accounts linked to Partido Popular were removed in Spain for “Inauthentic behavior”

Facebook informed that they have removed “65 Facebook accounts and 35 Instagram accounts involved in coordinated inauthentic behavior as part of a domestic-focused network in Spain.” 

They explained that these accounts were used by individuals to “amplify” their own and others’ contents, and some of the accounts were posting about the elections, the Partido Popular Party and criticism of its political opponents, and that their investigation found links to individuals associated with Partido Popular

In total they removed 65 Facebook accounts and 35 Instagram accounts, on Instagram, each account had about 5,000 followers and also they had spent about $1,275 on Facebook Ads.

Facebook explained that they are taking down Pages, Groups, and accounts based on behavior and not in the content posted, the basis behind taking down this accounts was that it was a coordinated activity with fake accounts to misrepresent themselves.
